    I use mine for arrow fishing with my sling shot. String a piece of cordage between the prongs with two beads between knots for the arrow rest/roller. Electric fence insulator rods make good shafts and three prongs welded on one inch piece of steel tube. You have to set it up like a spear gun. I just use heavy fishing line with a brass swivel running along it that ties to the spool line. Slip the middle fingers through the spool handle. If the toad fish eat the tails off my 'gummy grub', I put a few small pieces of white plastic bag on the hook. Cool vid man!💜👍 Universal Sovereign Citizen

    I started my fishing days scrounging snagged lures and line when I was 9 years old wondering in the mountains. Caught a trout my first time out using a 12mm wrench as my reel with a recovered rooster tail spinner with a marshmallow on the treble hook. This video makes me smile.

    Dude, maybe you can give advice on ticks? I bet there are ticks in your forest. Every time I go into the woods I at least encounter, but most likely be picking ticks (those which are not yet biting)! This is the only real worry I have! I got more paranoid over the years, so now I am looking towards hammocks, but maaan…sleeping on moss, covered with a wool blanket is just more versatile! What do I do with the fucking ticks? There a loads of them!

    • @EnduranceRoom
      @EnduranceRoom День назад

      @@simoninkin9090Yeah, they have gotten pretty bad. As it cools and the ground cover dies off, they thin out. You have to watch out for brush, they climb. They hate mint. I used to put Vics Vapo Rub on my ankles, waist and wrist. That works well. Use a ground sheet, sleeping pad, and bivvy bag if you are ground camping. Do checks before bed and after waking, and absolutely when you come out of woods. If they latch on, you got to get em out. I have had Lyme and it sucks ass. Good clothing choices also help big time. Pants can be tucked into the boots, shirt tucked into waist, long sleeves.

    • @simoninkin9090
      @simoninkin9090 День назад

      @@EnduranceRoomoh yeah.. yeah.. I seem to already know most of this.. I will try mint and other ointments next time. Thanks for your effort! I guess this is like the “wet feet problem” - you just have to bite the bullet and try your best. I also had Lyme, but I didn’t actually even know about it for years, until I accidentally tested myself. My current setup is a tarp, a polycro groundsheet, a bug net (essential in our country!) and a sleeping bag with a pillow 😅 I guess sleeping in moss is only possible, when ticks are out of season.

    Morning Jess .. It's good seeing you again .. been a while. 👍👍👍 .. good review. Yep, that Shock Cord from Varusteleka (and the little clips that one can order with it) really does the job. Got some extra G-Hooks too when I bought the Beaver Tail for the Jäger S .. handy little items. I like the ATV (getting lazy? 😁). I'm sure that W & W must enjoy Dad taking them out on trail thereon, giving K some well-deserved 'own time' 😊. This 21st of month, officially the start of Swiss Autumn 👍 (and not early enough). The ticks this year have been especially prolific 🙄 .. and with approx 50% infected with Lyme Disease, one cannot be too careful. Winter clears out much of the ground cover .. nice 😊. Good seeing you again, my Friend .. thanks for the share and until next time, take care .. Tommy

      Hey Tommy! The beaver tail is such a good idea. 💯 My parents came for a short visit about a month ago. We haven’t been able to leave homestead, so this was their first time meeting the boys. My dad surprised me the day they left with the bike. Couldn’t believe it. It’s a HUGE help having it here. We all pack on and put around. The boys love it. 😁 It is cooling off here pretty fast. Hey, Alex! It has taken me awhile to get around to trying these smaller volume packs out, but must say, for day trips and short excursions, they are quite nice. Thanks for watching, Bro. Have a good one 🤝

Hope you guys are all doing good. www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-tst-cp15-combat-pack-w-flat-shoulder-straps/75036 It looks like the padded straps are temporarily sold out. As an alternative, the Savotta KEIKKA shoulder harness is pretty much identical, and it it comes with a sternum strap. www.varusteleka.com/en/product/savotta-keikka-backpack-harness/66323

    G'day Sir, If you have the time it would mean the world to me if you could answer my question. I'm about 6'3 at about 220 lbs and have a 38-40 waist. I have a chance to purchase a 58/7 in new condition and i've searched the world wide web for a size that comes close. Do you think this size would be an ok fit?

    • @EnduranceRoom
      @EnduranceRoom 10 дней назад

      @@32854 Yes indeed, my friend. I think that would work very well. These suits have quite a bit of flexibility in terms of size thanks to the elastic built in around at key locations.

    Cheers mate I've had the same pack for a year now and love it. You have good gear taste and your videos are a good watch. If you see this then I wonder if you still use this pack with a belt rig? I am tempted to start tinkering in the same way

      @@joshhoppring5051 Hey! Absolutely awesome pack. I have an ASKARE hip pack that I favor now over the LBE style belt setup. It can be worn underneath a small or medium size pack. On a larger pack like the L, it can be attached to the back of the pack or stashed inside. It’s a great option as both extra storage and as a lightweight EDC bag after you establish camp and remove the larger ruck. Cheers

    I bought the Kahakka 15 l pack. Mighty fine pack. My father used to carry a leather satchel in Finland and I am thinking he would have loved this pack. So to carry on the Karjala tradition there was no other choice for me but to stay with my roots. There are so many options here for carrying more gear that I could do an overnighter with this pack. From Kuolemanjärvi to Pyssysalo, from my fathers place to my mother's I have to carry the tradition on.

    Interesting idea Jess! Both the Särmä thermal and Jerven hunter. Question: you didn’t have any ground pad like the Klymit V? Only the German elefantenhaut. Was the Jerven sufficient for conduction insulation ?

      @@markkulepisto1159 Thanks! I used a Klymit insulated sleeping pad inside the jerven. I have that pad for 5 years and it has performed amazingly well. Cheers

    A bit old video but still relevant. Quick question Jess - how would you compare that L5 demi season suit to the Gorka 3 or 4? They both seem to be for around the same temperature range? both water and wind resistant

    • @EnduranceRoom
      @EnduranceRoom 10 дней назад

      I really like all 3, but if I had to pick one, the Gorka 3, especially the jacket. All can be worn about 3 seasons (fall, winter, spring). I do find myself favoring more natural materials these days, but the synthetic in the demiseason suit is quite good for dealing with moisture.
